After World War II was over community leader Agueda Iglesias Johnston convinced US military leaders on Guam to support a celebration to commemorate the Liberation of the island from the Japanese.

Boonie Stomp - Lajuna

Apr 27    Lajuna    Very Difficult    5 hours for 4 miles
 

We descend into the limestone forest to an old fruit farm, then to the rugged coral coastline with outstanding views. Then we visit the canyon, the goat cave, and land's end, and then swim in the sea cave. Bring: 4 quarts water, strong hiking shoes, sun screen, sunglasses, insect repellent, lunch and snacks, and camera. Special conditions: Hiking over rough sharp coral rocks, thick vegetation, and a long steep uphill climb out.

Konqer Saipan

Climb, crawl and sprint in KONQER Saipan. The ultimate obstacle course of the Pacific returns to The Marianas. Patterned after the famous Japanese and American ”Ninja Warrior” TV shows, KONQER Saipan inspires individuals to challenge themselves to overcoming the some of the most difficult obstacles. If it is too challenging for you alone, individuals are welcome to form teams to further enhance their ability to tackle the hurdles to reach the finish line through team effort. Gather up and put your agility, stamina, and strength to the test and feel good about yourself crossing that finish line. When all is said and done, you will become a true “KONQER”.

Boonie Stomp - Southwest Coast

Apr 20    Southwest Coast    Difficult    6 hours for 7 miles
 

We hike south along the beaches and coastal headlands from Agat to Umatac, visiting, Facpi Island, Pale Apugon, Sella Bay, Cetti Bay, and Fouha Rock. W pass several areas that are great for swimming and/or snorkeling Bring: 3 quarts water, wet shoes, swim suit, snorkel gear, gloves, sun screen, sunglasses, lunch, snacks, and camera. Special conditions: A long hike in the sun over sand, rocks, mud, and partly in the water.

Boonie Stomp - Asiga Caves

We visit an isolated southeastern wilderness area containing cliff top overlooks, a fantastic dry cave, and two caves connected by an underground tunnel with excellent large cave features and three swim pools . Bring: 2 quarts water, good shoes, gloves, flashlight, sun screen, insect repellent, lunch, and camera. Special conditions: Walking on rough, sharp rocks, climbing in caves, mosquitoes, and scratchy vegetation.

We travel to the very center of Guam to explore a seldom visited 20 foot waterfall with a deep freshwater swimming hole and a fun jump. Along the way we pass an ancient Chamorro village, an old WWII site, and strange rocks. Bring: 4 liters water, hiking shoes, gloves, sun screen, insect repellent, lunch and snacks, and a camera. Special conditions: Sword grass, river crossing, a rope climb, little shade, and a muddy swamp.

We journey to a remote area in southwestern Guam and explore the ridges, plateaus, ocean vistas, and possibly some of the falls. Bring: 3 quarts water, sturdy hiking shoes, gloves, sun screen, insect repellent, lunch, and camera. Special conditions: Sword grass, steep slopes, possible walking in water, little shade, and a long hike.
