Yap Visitors Bureau has announced “A Taste of Yap” Festival Event

Colonia, Yap—Yap Visitors Bureau will hold a “A taste of Yap” event on Friday August 30, 2019, starting at noon. The event, which will be held at the Yap Living History Museum Grounds, will showcase the local foods of Yap, plus art and handicraft items for sale. The festival will also provide individuals and groups with the opportunity to sell and showcase local foods of the island, plus art and handicraft items.

The inaugural event is being held during Manta Ray Bay Resort’s annual MantaFest
(www.mantafest.com) which brings together amateur and professional photographers from all over the world. “A Taste of Yap combined with MantaFest is a great opportunity for more visitors to learn about the culture about Yap”said Don Evans, general manager of Yap Visitors Bureau.

There will be traditional dances, plus other local entertainment and various vendor booths. The Museum grounds will open at 12:00 noon for the public to visit the various booths and exhibits, and the evening program will start at 5:30 PM. There will be a traditional dance at 6 PM and another dance at 9:00 PM. Victorian style streetlamps are currently being installed on the museum grounds that will provide additional lighting for the nighttime event. The festival will conclude at 10:00 PM.
