PATA Micronesia Chapter Tri-Annual Meeting - April 24 - 26, 2018

The February 2018 Issue features upcoming PATA and Regional events with important dates, information regarding our newly launched websites, and other statistics. Additionally and most especially, the newsletter pays tribute to our dear friend and mentor, Dr. John Camacho Salas, who was instrumental in his contributions to the PATA Micronesia Chapter Organization. May he rest in peace†.

This year the New Tourism Frontiers Forum looks to the future by protecting the past as we look at the sustainability of tourism development with a pledge from the host country of Palau to preserve their destination for future generations. The forum will examine two specific topics related to digital marketing and the visitors experience with an afternoon workshop on Community Based Tourism, where participants will learn how to generate business while remaining sustainably conscious of their environment and culture.

The Tagaman is the longest running race in the Western Pacific, drawing its name and inspiration from TAGAMAN, a legendary king of the ancient Chamorros. His feats of strength included moving huge boulders carved as capstones, known as Taga Stones, a unique remnant of the original island people of the Marianas.
