RMI Constitution Day

RMI 43rd Constitution Day

The Republic of the Marshall Islands celebrated its annual Constitution Day on May 2, 2022, in commemoration of their independence and self-government. This year marks the 43rd anniversary of the Constitution of the Marshall Islands. Since its independence on May 1, 1979, the RMI has been governed by its own collection of laws. With the motto "Lujaron," which simply means "Be bold and courageous during challenging times."

Traditionally, RMI schools and organizations take part in the annual march from ECC to Delap Park to inaugurate the Mayday Celebration. The event consists of activities like Lejonjon, which include juggling with noni fruits. "Aj enra" and "banenur" which is the weaving of coconut leaves to mimic plates and baskets. There were also canoe races, coconut husking, sack races, and many more. And although our borders are still closed due to COVID-19, we were able to enjoy and celebrate the event.
